New Full-Time Faculty Orientation

The aim of the orientation program is to acquaint full-time faculty to the people, programs, and services of the College.

Fall 2023 Meetings

All meetings are held in-person in the Active Learning Space, Academic Support Center/Library C building.  There is an option to join the meeting by Zoom.  A link will be emailed to faculty and presenters.  Questions?  Contact Patrice Hess, patrice_hess@ivcc.edu or 815-224-0462

  • Monday, September 25, 3-4 PM OR Friday, September 29, 1-2 PM;  Patrice will provide an overview of the tenure process and recently-tenured faculty (Amber Fox, Monday and Friday; Kaity Ritter and David Garrison, Friday) will share their portfolios and tenure experiences
  • Monday, October 30, 3-4 PM OR Friday, November 3, 1-2 PM; the Learning Resources Team will provide an overview of student and faculty support programs and services
  • Monday, November 27, 3-4 PM OR Friday, December 1, 1-2 PM; Assessment Committee co-chairs, Dr. Kim Radek Hall and David Garrison, will provide Institutional Learning Outcome assessment training

Sessions are repeated each week.  If you attend a Monday session and you would like to come back again for the Friday session, feel free to join us!

Full-Time Faculty Tenure Process Resources

Pre-tenure full-time faculty may have the opportunity to participate in portfolio presentations by full-time faculty seeking tenure.  If feasible, information about the presentations will be shared with pre-tenure full-time faculty.

IVCC Faculty Contract - page 13, item G. New Faculty Orientation. During their first complete full-time semester, first year faculty will be required to participate in an orientation. Teaching faculty and laboratory instructors will receive .5 hour reduction in scheduled office hours per week during the semester of the orientation. Counselors will attend orientation as part of their regular workload.
