Explore career opportunities and requirements to be a professional welder and metal fabricator. Students will delve into basic MIG welding techniques, workplace safety, manufacturing processes and basic print reading skills. Design projects and hone their metal cutting skills to meet project specifications. Industry leaders will visit the clasroom. [1 week-4 sessions]

Students should wear long pants or jeans, with no holes (no shorts, skirts, or capris), a long sleeve cotton shirt (not dry fit), and leather boots. Long hair should be tied back. Please bring a sack lunch that does not need to be refrigerated. *This camp is partially funded by a grant through Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs and Perkins.

Students will meet daily in front of Building J on IVCC's east campus. 

Day 1- Safety briefing, with basic GMAW instruction and practice

Day 2- Begin fabrication of one of four projects

Day 3- Continue fabrication and welding of project

Day 4- Finish fabrication and paint the project
