Wellness events

  • Snapshots of a Healthy Relationship: Students and community members are welcome to join Safe Journeys' Community Educator Grace as she discusses what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, and how to help yourself and those around you leave a dangerous situation. Participants will also decorate a picture frame to take home as a keepsake during the presentation. No registration required and participation is free. Tuesday, January 20th, 1-3PM, IVCC Active Learning Space (In the Jacobs Library). 

  • Pal-entine's Day: Students passing through the Student Life Space are encouraged to stop by Safe Journeys' Community Educator Grace's table and create a valentine for someone in their life that they love non-romantically (themselves included!) Supplies provided. Tuesday, February 17th, 10-4PM, IVCC Student Life Space.

  • Succulents and Self-Care: Students and community members are welcome to join Safe Journeys' Community Educator Grace as she discusses vicarious trauma and how to cope with difficult things in life, as participants decorate a small succulent pot and create a plant flag to take home. No registration required and participation is free. Tuesday, March 10th, 1-3PM, IVCC Active Learning Space (In the Jacobs Library)

  • Well, What Were You Wearing? An Exhibition about Survival: Safe Journeys will have an exhibit up the entire month of March honoring local survivors of sexual assault. "Well, What Were You Wearing?" will feature replicas of outfits worn by real, local survivors of sexual assault with information regarding their age at the time of the assault, a description of what the outfit was, and as much of the story as the survivor is willing to share. Students, staffulty, and community members are encouraged to walk through the gallery during the college's open hours. If individuals are interested in loaning outfits to the gallery, please email gracem@safejourneysillinois.org for more info. March 1st - 31st, IVCC Front Lobby.
