Student Scholarship Recipients

The following students received scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. Our students are the reason we are here. They are so grateful for the opportunity of an education and the assistance they receive from the IVCC Foundation and others on campus.

"I was born with Congenital Optic Disc Coloboma which has caused me to be blind in one eye and have very low vision in the other.  This made school very challenging for me growing up.  I never in a million years thought I would be where I am today. IVCC and the Center for Accessibility and Neurodiversity has helped me find myself, find my confidence and become a strong leader."

"When you help one person, you help their family, friends, and community."

“To me this phrase is accurate for the Foundation and IVCC. Following my serious injury causing me to leave the welding field, I found it difficult to find the aid and funding to pursue a career in emergency medicine (EMS). If you look online, you will find a startling lack of prehospital care scholarships. Most of them have a requirement that you be related to someone who was impacted by 9/11.

The Foundation helped me afford to attend. Which in turn helps me, helps you, your friends, your family.

So, by helping one. You have helped many.”

Donors

Our donors are so generous. They have a compassion for seeing students succeed at obtaining an education and bettering their lives. They have either been touched themselves by the generosity of others or believe in how education can change a person's trajectory.

“As a former IVCC student, I am incredibly grateful for the support I received through the Foundation. When I pursued my nursing degree, I was a single mother with two young children. Balancing my responsibilities as a mother and full-time nursing student meant I had to cut back on work, which led to financial strain and mounting guilt. I was plagued by intense feelings of self-doubt and an overwhelming fear of failing my young children. Still, I was determined to build a financially secure and fulfilling future for my children, which steadied me and maintained my focus ahead. “Onward and upward” was my motto.

Often, on my drive to IVCC, I prayed for strength and guidance. I promised myself that if I succeeded, I would one day give back to other students facing their own unique challenges. Supporting and mentoring students on their educational journey is a way for me to give back and honor the gifts I received.”

"In my 23 years of teaching, I've witnessed firsthand how scholarships do more than just cover tuition or supplies—they provide validation, encouragement, and a sense of support that can inspire students to continue pursuing their goals. The confidence they gain from receiving a scholarship can motivate them to overcome obstacles they might have otherwise faced and push them to achieve even greater things.

My family has personally invested in IVCC students by establishing a scholarship in my mother's memory, specifically for nursing students. It’s been a meaningful way for us to honor her legacy while helping students advance in their careers. Seeing the difference it makes for these students has been a rewarding experience and a reminder of how powerful acts of support can be."
