Faculty Development Events

  • Sessions between 9:45 and 11:45 AM are hands-on, on campus; they will not be livestreamed or recorded.
  • The Instructor Essentials session from 1:30 to 3:30 will be hands-on, on campus, it will not be livestreamed.
  • The Communicating and Engaging session for Brightspace from 1:30 to 3:30 PM will be online, live, for individuals who have completed Instructor Essentials.  Participants should have received an email to REGISTER for the link to this session.
  • Faculty should bring their laptops to development day.

  • OPTION 1: Hands-On Assessment of ILOs for Fall Semester (for anyone who has not already assessed ILOs for fall 2022)
  • OPTION 2: Assessment Plans for Master Course Outlines (for anyone who has already assessed ILOs for fall 2022)

11:00-11:45 AM Brightspace Designing Accessible Courses; CTC124/125

You do not need Brightspace training in advance of the session. This session will cover:  

  • Adding alt text to images
  • Checking for color contrast
  • Using built-in accessible templates
  • Creating video notes with captions

  • OPTION 1: Instructor Essentials; CTC124; This session is hands-on, on campus; there is no virtual option.
  • OPTION 2: Communicating and Engaging; CTC125; This session is online, live, led by D2L. Brightspace Instructor Essentials is a pre-requisite for this session.
