Brightspace MidTerm Checkup
There a few items you will want to check in your Brightspace courses at midterm and some tips you might find helpful.
Did you run the Gradebook SetUp?
- Be default final grades are not released and students will not see what their current grade is until they are.
- In the event that you had not set the final grades to be released, you can change that setting from the Grade SetUp Wizard at anytime, but will have to release the grades.
Are your tests and assignments all associated with gradebook columns?
- If not you can modify the assignment and test and choose to add the item to the gradebook or associate it with an existing column.
- If you are using a weighted grade scheme, you should check your listing under Manage Grades to confirm that the weighting scheme will add up to 100%.
Are all of the links in your course navigation bar useful?
- If you have been using a content module to post links to Publisherware assignments, and do not use the Brightspace assignments tools, consider removing the assignments tool link fro the nav bar.
- The navigation bar can be modified to remove the items that not used from the course.
Tips and Tricks
- Tests that have been imported into Brightspace from Blackboard will have test questions set to be mandatory. This means that students must answer all questions before submitting the test, but will prevent the option to disable backtracking.
- If you have found that Rubrics you had associated with assignments in Blackboard are not available within the assignment option, look for them in the Rubrics area under Course Admin tools. They should be there but will have to be published.
