Basketball youth camp registration underway

Illinois Valley youths have a chance to meet their on-court heroes and learn some game fundamentals during a youth camp hosted by Illinois Valley Community College’s Men’s Basketball program.

Register through July 10 for the four-day camp, which runs July 15-18 at the IVCC Gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 6-9. Activities run from 1-3 p.m. each day. Find the form at this link https://forms.office.com/r/zatC1xfhWC.

Guided by IVCC Eagles teammates, participants will cover fundamentals including ball handling, shooting, finishing moves, team defensive concepts and team offensive concepts designed to improve each camper’s skillset and knowledge.

Head Coach Chris Herman, who has organized the camp for the past 10 years, says some youngsters return year after year. “It’s a great way for the kids to interact with some of the IVCC ballplayers!”

Camp fee is $50, which includes a camp T-shirt. Proceeds help the basketball program defray costs for equipment and travel expenses. Participants can bring their own basketballs.
