September 21, 2005 Special Board Meeting Report
Illinois Valley Community College Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Wednesday night to discuss the board’s concerns and hopes for IVCC’s future. The purpose of the discussion was to produce a college profile and presidential qualifications statement.
Dr. Charles Novak, interim president, led the self evaluation of the board members using a technique similar to the Delphi Method, a structured process of collecting knowledge and information through a series of questions intended to solicit controlled opinion feedback.
Dr. Novak distributed a presidential search survey and each board member was invited to consider and share their responses to the questions which were recorded to be coordinated and disseminated back to the board. Sample profiles were distributed to assist in this process.
David Wilcoxson, acting board chair, reviewed the draft of the presidential search advisory committee composition and solicited input from the board as well as those present at the special meeting. Members of the board discussed ways to invite the input from the college staff and the community at large. A draft of the advisory committee charge, the proposed timeline for the candidates search, the proposed interview schedule and the hiring of a consultant were introduced.
Follow up will occur at the next regularly scheduled board meeting set for Wednesday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room on the main campus.
