October 20, 2005 Special Board Meeting Report

Illinois Valley Community College’s Board of Trustees met in special session on Thursday night to continue their discussion on the presidential search for the college.

Dr. Charles Novak, interim president of IVCC presented to the board a revised presidential profile statement inclusive of challenges, opportunities and characteristics of the college. At the conclusion of the board discussion, it was determined that the drafted presidential profile would be distributed to all college employees for comment and input in the presidential prospectus.

“I wish to thank Dr. Novak and the board for having a very inclusive process that will involve all of the college,” said history professor and faculty union president Dr. Stephen Charry.

Under current consideration is the composition and charge of the proposed 16 member presidential search advisory committee to the board of trustees, the search timeline, the tentative interview schedule and the proposed search consultant.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room on the main campus.
