Emeritus Nominations
I am so excited to finally share with you the opportunity to nominate your former colleagues, teachers or employees who impacted you for Emeritus status.
According to Board Policy 01.24, the “designation of Emeritus/Emerita (referred hereafter as Emeritus) status is an honorary designation awarded by the Board of Trustees to an employee as a way of recognizing outstanding levels of service to higher education and specifically to Illinois Valley Community College at the point of retirement. As the College enters its 100th year, it is hereby resolved that Emeritus status will be awarded as indicated by the institutional procedures.”

A few notes:
- Emeritus status is only awarded to individuals who have retired from the institution.
- Emeritus status may be awarded posthumously.
- You will need some information when you prepare to nominate an individual—HR will
be able to validate years of service but you will need to be able to share some of
the following information (in addition to why you are nominating them):
- How has this person demonstrated professional competence in their field and/or in the classroom?
- How has this person provided meritorious service to the College, the community, or their field? This could include presentations, publications, awards, leadership, committee work, etc.
- How has this person exemplified and upheld the mission, vision, strategic objectives and/or core values of the College during the employment? The most recent mission, vision and values can be found at www.ivcc.edu/mission.
- How has this person championed the role of the College in the community?
- How did this person promote student success/student learning while they were at LPO/IVCC?
Upon receiving the nominations, committees made up of faculty, staff and administration will review the submissions.
