WHAT IS ELECTRONICS?Electrical Program Student Working

The Electronics program prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of electrical, electronics and communication engineers. The curriculum includes instruction in electrical circuity, prototype development and testing, systems analysis and testing, systems maintenance, instrument calibration and report preparation. An industrial electrician maintains systems in an industrial setting by performing regular checks and analysis of performance, troubleshooting issues with equipment and systems, and performing maintenance.

 Program Options

Students can attend IVCC part-time for three years and earn an Industrial Electricians Certificate and enter the workforce, or earn the Associate in Applied Science Degree in two years as a full-time student. IVCC has partnerships in place with colleges and universities for those students wanting to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in the field, most notably with electronics graduates is our 3+1 program with Northern Illinois University.

Additional Certificates are also available during or after completion of the program:

Engineering Technology Associate in Applied Science                                              Industrial Maintenance Certificate                                                                          Renewable Energy Technician

Features of the Program

Electronics students experience hands on learning from top notch instructors who are active in their fields of expertise. IVCC’s CTC facility is filled with up-to-date technology so training occurs on the same equipment seen in many shops today. Students enjoy small class sizes and personal attention from instructors.
