Safari Sloth Acrylic Painting Class

Everyone loves the sleepy sloth! Paint class is designed just for kids and includes an 11” x 14” canvas and all art supplies. Join IVCC instructor Lucy Schmidt to create a canvas painting of everyone’s favorite tropical creature! We will be using acrylic paint. Your finished canvas will be 11” X 14” and ready for display! Please bring: a snack, bottle of water and paint smock or shirt. [1 week-1 session]

Pour Your Art Out! Paint Pouring

Paint pouring is a fun and fluid painting technique! We will get creative learning different techniques using pourable paint. Each canvas will be unique depending on your choice of paint, medium and additives. You will complete three canvases while learning two different pouring techniques. Please bring: a snack, bottle of water and two cookie sheets, or shirt sized boxes to transport your finished art work home at the end of class.

CAD 4 Kids | 3D Printing

Experience the digital design world and bring your ideas to life! Join us for this hands-on computer aided design (CAD) class where students will be introduced to professional-level modeling software that will allow them to create all types of unique designs and projects. Students will then be given a final project that they will have the opportunity to print, using IVCC’s state of the art 3D printer!

Fire it Up! Clay Scuplted Chia Pets
[Ages: 8-11]           Class ID: 9573
Easy to do and fun to grow! Create your own Chia Pet in this creative camp using and learning about clay techniques. We will explore texture, shape and color to create and glaze hand-built vessels. We will discuss the history of Chia Pets and form ceramic animal sculptures. Directions will be given to “plant” your seeds onto your pet at home. Care for your pet plant for many years to come! No experience needed. You will hand sculpt and glaze your finished piece. We will kiln fire the finished pieces. Projects will be ready to pick up after July 11. Students living in the Ottawa area, can make arrangements to pick up finished projects at the IVCC Ottawa Center. We anticipate pick-up of the finished pieces will begin Wednesday, July 12 and occur anytime thereafter. Pieces will be able to be picked up "Curbside." Call our office when you arrive, and we will bring the piece out to your vehicle. Additional pick-up details will be provided. [3 weeks-4 sessions]

Imagination Animation

Calling all budding filmmakers! Are you familiar with films and cartoons using stop motion animation? You’ll learn the ‘behind the scenes’ animation process. Starting with a storyboard plan, students will build characters using a variety of materials and film their actions frame by frame with a digital camera. You will learn the basic techniques and processes of media production. The finished product will amaze you when you learn how easy it is to do. A group project will be produced and you will take home a copy of your first feature film.
